Update on Covid 19 Situation, October 2020

Please note that unfortunately normal club activities will remain suspended until the ongoing Covid 19 induced restrictions on mass gatherings and social distancing, in particular, are eased sufficiently to allow them to resume. In the meantime, some activities will continue to be facilitated on-line principally via www.lichess.org. Registration on this site is free and allows access to a wide range of chess activities and information, including on-line games and tournaments as well as extensive information on how to play the game, puzzles etc.

It is also well worth checking out www.chesskid.com which has a lot of very useful information, including puzzles, videos etc aimed primarily at children/new players who are starting to learn about the game.

Please also note that the club continues to cater for new members and runs coaching sessions every Wednesday from 7pm to 8.45pm via Zoom. Enquiries to Pat Fitzsimons at 087 419 5253 or email mastergame100  AT hotmail.com.

Updates – Covid19

In the light of the evolving situation concerning the Covid 19 virus, please note that all club activities are suspended for the next few weeks.

The position will be reviewed at the end of this month in the light of advice available   from the Government/HSE concerning measures to combat the spread of the virus.

Pat Fitzsimons has sent around a link to lichess.org which allows you to play online. It also allows you to create a game with your own selected time-limits – this could be used to play some club tournament games.

The Irish Chess Union will be running some blitz tournaments on lichess.org – starting with a bullet-chess tournament (1 minute per side) tomorrow (16th March) at 7pm. See the ICU website for details.
